Mortal Kombat moments from 2012

Major League Gaming‘s Senior Vice President of Operations, Adam Apicella, announced via Twitter today that they are doubling the prize pool for Mortal Kombat at the MLG Winter Championships. Previously, it was announced that the pot for all three fighting games
(including Soul Calibur V and King of Fighters XIII) would be $16,700
and pay the top eight finishers. But shortly following news that MLG has
raised an additional $13 million in venture capital, the eSports company broke this news:

Thanks to our partners, we are excited to announce that the prize pool for Mortal Kombat at the Winter Championships in Columbus, OH has doubled and now totals $33,400.

1st Place: $12,000

2nd Place: $7,200

3rd Place: $4,800

4th Place: $3,200

5th/6th Place: $2,000

7th/8th Place: $1,100

This is now the largest pot ever for a Mortal Kombat 9 tournament, handing out over $10,000 more than last year’s PDP tournament.

The MLG Winter Championships take place March 23rd-25th in Columbus, OH.
